Professional Engineering Organizations

Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) – Professional Engineers of Ontario licenses Ontario’s 70,000 professional engineers, grants temporary, limited and provisional licences to practise professional engineering, and authorizes businesses to provide engineering services to the public. It sets standards for and regulates engineering practice.

Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) – Consulting Engineers of Ontario is the recognized voice of consulting engineering in Ontario. It is a not-for-profit, member-governed association representing consulting engineering firms in Ontario.

Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) – The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers is the voice of the engineering profession in Ontario.

Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Canada (ACEC) – ACEC represents companies in Canada that provide professional engineering services to both public and private sector clients.

Building

Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) – The Ontario Home Builders' Association is the voice of the residential building industry in Ontario. Its 4,000 member companies are involved in all facets of the new home construction and residential renovation industries.

Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) – Since 1943, the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA) has been the voice of the residential construction industry in Canada. The CHBA is widely recognized for its technological "know-how", highly regarded for its innovative spirit and well respected for the quality of the homes it builds.

Tarion Warranty Corporation – Tarion Warranty Corporation is a private corporation that was established in 1976 to protect the rights of new home buyers and regulate new home builders. Tarion is responsible for administering the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. The primary purpose of Tarion is to ensure that builders abide by this legislation

Ontario Building Code – Government of Ontario web site providing resources from the Building and Development Branch of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, which administers the Ontario Building Code.

R-2000 – R-2000 is made-in-Canada home building technology with a worldwide reputation for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The R-2000 Standard is a series of technical requirements for new home performance that go way beyond building codes.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) – Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is Canada’s national housing agency. It is the country's premier provider of mortgage loan insurance, mortgage-backed securities, housing policy and programs, and housing research.

Accessibility for Ontarions with Disabilities – Government of Ontario web site providing information on the Accessibility for Ontarions with Disabilities Act, 2005. Businesses and organizations who provide goods and services to people in Ontario must meet certain accessibility standards in the areas of: customer service, transportation, information and communications, built environment and employment.

Ministry of the Environment (MOE) – Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment has been protecting Ontario’s environment for over 30 years. Using stringent regulations, targeted enforcement and a variety of innovative programs and initiatives, the ministry continues to address environmental issues that have local, regional and/or global effects.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) PVWatts Calculator – The NREL PVWatts Calculator determines the energy production and cost savings of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) energy systems. It allows homeowners, installers, manufacturers, and researchers to develop estimates of the performance of hypothetical PV installations. Version 1 of the calculator allows users to select from locations throughout the world; version 2 allows users to select any location in the United States.
